Evaluation.

For the last six weeks in this assignment i had to do band identity. For this i had to research my artist - Phil Collins, and different photographers that inspired me to use a similar theme on the bands album cover.  All of this information that i collected had to be put onto the blogger website. This website is very useful and allows the group to communicate and comment onto each others work in a critique way, which allows me or them to learn others opinion and try to better our work.
Also me, Meg, Kat and Kierien went out as a group to take a location shoot of where we thought the  band would be able to make a album cover or to take the video. We all put in ideas, shared and listened to each others opinions and i believed it went really successful as we might use one of the location photographs.

The blogger , in my opinion, is very useful and i find it to be successful. Even though i thought it is difficult at first to get into the flow of using it is a great method to do my work. The next ting i would like to do is to go into the studio to gain experience and take a photo-shoot of our chosen artist.

Research- portrait photography

For this portrait i really like the subject and the tree is in focus and the background is blurred. The tree in the image gives the image texture. The subject is also dressed in black which makes her stand out from the green background.  (www.idmphotos.com/portraits)
This portrait i like and think it is very effective. I like how the image is black and white but on the groom's jacket is a red coloured flower, this could then represent the love between them. The focal point on this image is the newly weds.

For this portrait i like the unique angle of the photograph where the photographer is like standing over the subjects. I like that the subjects faces are not in view but you can still tell that the couple show love by the way they are holding each other. I like the fact it's in black and white it shows the contrast of them- the male is in black and white tones and the women is in grey tones.

I like this portrait because it is  different from the other as the subjects are in silhouette and the background is very colourful and makes the subjects stand out. Also, i like that the photographer shows that the subjects are two types of couples- old and young.

band identity group photographs (meg, kat, keirien & me)

I like this photograph because the band is in shadows with the light background. This then gives  the band a bit of a mysterious sense about them which could portray their band name or their songs. What i don't like about this photograph because the area is not compatible with the making of the video.

Again this photograph is good for the band album because the subject is in a good position for the picture and the background complements the mysterious link between the photographs.
What i don't like about this is maybe the place is a little dirty for the photographs- to fix this problem we could photoshop them image to remove the rubbish around the subject or seen.
For this photograph i like the location and the archway for the band identity album photographs only because for the video we think the lighting is to dark and the archway echos which will ruin the sound of the band. The bad thing about this photograph is the subject is in the lighter area of the        photo and it is hard to see her- what could be done is to change the clothing to contrast the light with the dark to be able to see her.
This photograph is a good cover to use for the band identity album. I think this because the lighting in the photograph is very  organic and splits directly down the middle of the photo. This could be a theme of 'good and evil' or 'happy and sad'. Also the artists name could be at the top, like a billboard in the tunnel.

These photographs shows where the band could be placed and could also show a theme of opposites- which the light shows in the photograph.
Both the images shows frame within a frame and with the different angle shows another look for the album cover for the band.

I like this image with the subjects at different levels and the  sunlight is good how it shows the camera flare which for the image is very affective. Also the angle of the photograph shows the uniqueness and gives the image a good perspective.

For this photograph i think it would be a good album cover as the subject is shown but the blurred round-a-bout gives an affective touch to the image.
Maybe the angle could be slanted to give another effect.
